In 2009 eVolution released BandWidthShield, a tool for its customers to avoid bandwidth leeching. Today, 14 july 2010, BWS becomes opensource and changes its name to Hotlink Shield, a GPLv3 version for everyone. BWS will be discontinuated though eVolution will be able to give you commercial help if you have problems with HLS.

Please remember that also google and other search engines won't be able to reindex an expired link! Be sure to set up your robots.txt accordingly to your needs. This is NOT a substitute for .htaccess, this is made as a base for a paywall or to avoid hotlinking on video files or other non-referrable clicks (though you can apply HLS to any media you want).

I work for eVolution as a software developer/system administrator, and you can help me by a giving a small donation or by considering eVolution for your professional needs. HLS will be always free of charge and opensource: HLS is released under the GNU GPL license.


Since eVolution released this software to everyone, please just consider them if you need some web agency or penetration testing & network security experts.
